Hiking and GR300 near the campsite

From the campsite, you can reach the Châtel-de-Neuvre bridge via the path running alongside the Reserve, or explore the village and its listed church dating from the 9th century. On a clear day, this site offers views over the plain and the meandering Allier river as far as the Forez and Morvan mountains. The GR300 (Way of St James) passes nearby, as does the river to vineyard circuit starting from Châtel-de-Neuvre. For cycling, the surrounding countryside is accessible after crossing the N2009, with numerous routes including a section of the Massif Central crossing for mountain bikers (GTMC)

Val d'Allier Nature Reserve

Located a few kilometres south of Moulins (03), the Val d'Allier National Nature Reserve covers 1,450 hectares. It encompasses both banks of the Allier River and stretches for around twenty kilometres. Our campsite is located in the heart of this little paradise. The Allier is France's last remaining wild river. The Val d'Allier Nature Reserve is home to remarkable flora and fauna, including around a hundred species of birds that nest there permanently and 150 species of migratory birds that stop off there to rest before flying on to warmer destinations.
